Albumin Testing
Serum albumin is the the most common protein in human plasma.
Your body uses it to help distribute fluids, and to transport
protein for your fatty acids. The test is often
recommended as part of a check of your liver, kidneys, or
general nutrition.
The test may also be
recommended if you have symptoms of a liver disorder such as
abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin and eyes, fatigue, or
weight loss. Other symptoms may include swelling around
the legs, belly or eyes. The levels of albumin in your
blood may increase due to the use of insulin, anabolic steroids,
growth hormones, or androgens.
