A qualitative hCG test is done to confirm whether or not you are pregnant.  The test is usually given as early as 10 days after you have missed your menstrual period, if you want to confirm whether or not you are pregnant. 

Can't I just use a store-bought test?

1. An hCG Qual Serum test is a blood test that we offer, and it's more accurate than a urine test, or a home pregnancy kit.

2. Home tests are sometimes done too soon after you miss your menstrual period, and the test may not show a positive result even if you are pregnant.

3. Home tests that involve urine can become diluted if you drink a great deal of liquids such as juice or water.  This can make your hCG levels too low to show up on a test as positive, even if you are pregnant.

If done correctly, a store-bought home pregnancy kit may help you find out if you are pregnant.  However, you may find better peace of mind by having an affordable blood test done in a local lab.
