HgB A1C Testing
The A1c test is used to monitor the glucose control of
diabetics. If your glucose levels are chronically
elevated, this may cause damage to your kidneys, eyes, nerves,
and cardiovascular system. The A1c test helps your doctor
know if your diabetes treatment is working, or if it needs to be
adjusted.
The American Diabetes
Association recommends that you test your A1c at least twice a
year. People recently diagnosed with diabetes may be
ordered to take it more often than that.
